As part of Stony Brook University’s Homecoming activities on Saturday October 3rd, the Friends of the Ashley Schiff Preserve welcomed more than 100 visitors for a guided walk through the forest.

Visitors were guided along the trails on a crisp and sunny afternoon to learn about the preserve’s glacial soils, ecology, history, and connections to neighboring Clara’s Woods.

Judging from the smiling hikers emerging from the woods, a good time was had by all!
